RICHARD CARRUTHERS, of VANCOUVER, Canada says : "I descend from JANE surnamed variously HALES or HALL who married Robert LARGE of Purton, Wilts. at All Saints' parish church, Lydiard Millicent, Wilts. by licence on 29 March 1726. The marriage entry lists her name as Jane HALL, but the marriage licence bond from the Bishop of Sarum [Salisbury] refers to her as Jane HALES of Lydiard Millicent. There are no HALL or HALES baptisms at Lydiard Millicent, but there are HALE ones.
    I find a suitable baptism for her under the following entry from the register of Lydiard Millicent, Wilts., viz.: Jane daughter of Richard HALE was baptised 20 February 1705 [i.e. 1705/6].

  6. "I have found that a JOHN MADDY married a FILIPPA HALE of Somerton Hall, Suffolk in the 1800's." writes SUSAN WELHAM of STOWMARKET, Suffolk, England.
    " John was baptised at Dorstone Hereford in 1766 and went to Oxford College. He came to Somerton as the Rector and was Rector of Somerton Hartest cum Boxted and Boxted. In PERTH, Australia DY TAYLOR SAYS: " I am tracking back through my Birmingham HALE line and I've discovered that my GGGrandfather William was originally from Cirencester - he appears to have made the move to Birmingham as a young man. He was born 16/11/1824 to parents Elizabeth and Jasper HALE (b 21/04/1805 Cirencester, then transported as a convict to NSW Australia in 1830 - he never came back to UK). Elizabeth remained in Cirencester with William and his siblings Mary Ann b 21/05/1823, Jasper b 07/08/1828 and Elizabeth b 04/06/1830. I would love to find out more about the Cirencester HALE families. I know Jasper's (b1805) parents' names were Richard and Elizabeth HALE but that's as far back as I've got for now. His GGM, Emma HALE, was one of seven daughters of James Charles HALE b 1820 in Quidhampton WIL, and Julia BUCKLAND b 1830 in Shaftesbury DOR. They married in Fisherton Anger in 1854. Any info about their parents would be very welcome. My own HALE links concern my 3GGM, Temperance HALE, who married William BOWYER in 1800 in Frampton Cotterell GLS. Occupations variously given as "China & Earthernware Dealer", "General Dealer" and, at the time of his death, "Publican". His wife ADELIA RUSSELL's second marriage to ALBERT TOM EDWARD YOUNG on 23 Dec 1892 is mentioned on your website. At time of his marriage 15 March 1864 Parish Church, Panteg, Monmouth to Adelia, Luke gave his father as EDWARD HALE, "hawker". Luke is shown as being a widower, but I cannot find his earlier marriage, nor registration of his birth. I would be delighted to hear from anyone who is researching this Hale line.
